Matthew’s dancing career started at a young age with training in Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Jazz. He quickly progressed to the advanced troupes regularly participating in competition and performances. He successfully auditioned and was accepted into the John Curtin College of the Arts Specialist Dance and Ballet programs receiving training in Contemporary, Breakdance and Ballet. The first the five years at John Curtin Matthew was named Performer of the Year and selected for the opening solo of the Performing Arts Perspectives in 2010.
Following John Curtin Matthew trained and performed with the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts for three and a half years and has enjoyed a number of lead and ensemble roles with The Ian Charles Westrip Performing Arts Association (CATS, Macavity), STEPS Youth Dance Company, Bent Knee Creative and John Curtin College of the Arts. Matthew has also been teaching at schools across Perth for the last 5 years, including Willetton SHS, Trinity College, Rossmoyne SHS, Mercedes College, Melville SHS, Lynwood SHS, Leeming SHS, Lakelands SHS, John Septimus Roe Anglican School, John Curtin College of the Arts, Applecross SHS and All Saints College. During this time he has also successfully choreographed students for competition and performances and still perform regularly in both competitions and various performances.
